Katie Johnstone Reacts To Tim Gromie’s Audition

Married At First Sight (MAFS) is truly the gift that keeps on giving because just when we thought we’d seen the last of controversial groom Tim Gromie, his negative aura has managed to seep into confessions week. Viewers and I are SAT for this reality TV shitstorm.

This article contains Married At First Sight spoilers. It’s up to you if you wanna stay or leave.

It’s now time for confessions week where our couples dive into the deepest crevices of themselves and their newfound relationships.

Although we’re only two weeks into the 12th season of MAFS, we’ve seemingly lost two couples already. Eliot Donovan and Lauren Hall, and Katie Johnstone and Tim Gromie.

While it appeared that Tim had officially said goodbye in last night’s episode, where he got absolutely chewed out by the brides for the way he treated Katie, his presence remains throughout Tuesday night’s episode as Katie decided to buck up and continue the experiment with hopes of her groom giving it another go.

Unfortunately, Katie’s hopes of working it out with Tim were shattered when a producer revealed that he’d flown back to Melbourne following a disastrous dinner party — well, disastrous for him, delicious for us viewers.

“What a selfish [BLEEP],” Katie said before the show dramatically cut to a commercial.

One of the tasks of this year’s confessions week was that partners had to watch each other’s audition tapes. With Katie being alone, she was left to watch Tim’s audition tape.

In the groom’s audition tape, the primary school teacher said he wanted “the typical happy ending”. When asked what he wanted regarding physical traits, Tim said: “I always say a pretty face is always number one because everyone’s body and looks — women have kids — it all changed but a pretty face is forever.”

“Just a natural person, I’m not Brad Pitt so I’m not expecting Miranda Kerr,” he continued.

When asked about having an initial spark (you know, the one big thing he hung over Katie’s head because he didn’t feel it with her), Tim said if it didn’t happen, he would be “willing to give it a go” and agreed he would work at it.

“Where the fuck are you, huh?” Katie asked.

“That was [bleep] full of lies, like. That was just complete and utter bullshit. He’s got some answering to do.”

As a viewer, I cannot help but feel angry, hurt and hopeless for Katie and it appears that a bunch of folks on social media also share this feeling.

Thankfully, towards the end of the episode, Katie was able to have some girly time with Jamie Marinos and Ashleigh Ackerman to debrief the fuckery she went through and it was super wholesome.

“What I’ve been through with Tim has been an epic failure. However, I’ve learnt a lot about myself,” Katie began.

“I learnt that I’m strong and that I’m powerful and I’m worthy and I can get back up.”
