Joshua Zirkzee’s ‘agent to hold talks with Ruben Amorim over Man United striker’s long-term future at the club after just SIX MONTHS – with European giant keen to sign him in January’
Joshua Zirkzee’s agent is set to hold talks with Manchester United and Ruben Amorim over his long-term future, according to reports.
Zirkzee has endured a nightmare start to his career in England after joining from Bologna in a £36.5million move.
The Dutchman has made just one Premier League start under new boss Ruben Amorim, with Rasmus Hojlund preferred ahead of him.
And as per Tuttosport, the decision could yet be taken to move away from the club altogether.
According to the Italian outlet, Zirkzee’s agent Kia Joorabchian will soon hold a meeting with United to understand their plans ahead of the January transfer window.
It is said that the forward will leave Old Trafford next month if United sign a new striker amid their problems in front of goal.
Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee
The Dutchman thrived under now Juventus boss Thiago Motta at Bologna last season
Zirkzee has started just one Premier League match under new Man United boss Ruben Amorim
One destination, as per reports in Italy, could be Juventus, where head coach Thiago Motta is keen on signing Zirkzee.
Motta got the best out of the Dutchman when the pair worked together at Bologna last season where they helped take the club into the Champions League.
Zirkzee scored 12 goals in 37 appearances for Bologna last season but has managed to find the back of the net just three times in 23 games across all competitions so far this term.
His only Premier League start under Amorim came against Everton earlier this month when he scored a brace as United claimed a 4-0 win.
Amorim had singled out the Netherlands international after being left unimpressed by his efforts on his managerial debut against Ipswich and expressed ‘concern’ over Zirkzee’s ability with him being wasteful in possession and not making runs into the box.
He said: ‘I think that [decision-making] is a concern, you don’t need to coach them at this level.
‘You have to keep the ball and know the momentum to put the ball in front. Sometimes you feel that you can’t keep the ball and you [have to] put the ball in front.
‘Then you have like we are in the end of the game, we were around the box with two strikers. Josh [Zirkzee] has to understand that he has to go to the box to have the crosses.’
