Jordanian Foreign Minister: The region faces the risk of sliding into a regional war

Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Al-Safadi, confirmed that the region faces a real danger of sliding into a regional war.

This came during the joint press conference held by Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Ati with his Jordanian counterpart. Ayman Al-Safadi today, Tuesday.

 

Safadi expressed his aspiration to meet President Abdel Qattah Al-Sisi tomorrow to deliver to him a message from Jordanian King Abdullah II. 

 

Minister Al-Safadi thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati, noting that the discussions held today come within the framework of the systematic, institutional coordination process existing between the two brotherly countries in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and King Abdullah II.  

 

He added that Egypt and Jordan are based on well-established, historical, fraternal and rooted relations, and at the bilateral level we are moving on a clear path towards activating cooperation in a way that serves the common interests of our two countries, pointing out that The positions of the two countries are clear regarding regional issues, most notably the Palestinian issue and the challenges it is witnessing, and our goals are the same, and the red lines of Egypt and Jordan are the same.

 

The Jordanian Foreign Minister indicated that his country values ​​Egypt’s positions. The clear support for the Jordanian positions regarding what is happening in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem.

 

Safadi said, “After a year of war on Gaza, we find ourselves facing a dangerous regional escalation, and I previously warned Egypt and Jordan stressed that the continuation of the aggression against Gaza will lead to a regional escalation from which no one will be spared, and here we see a dangerous Israeli escalation and another war in the West Bank targeting the Palestinian presence,” warning that the West Bank is in a state of boiling, and if the situation explodes there, this escalation will take on a more dangerous extent. He pointed out that the situation in Lebanon is becoming more dangerous with the continuation of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and Israel’s rejection of even what its allies, the United States and France, asked of it.

 

Safadi asked the international community about what it expects to take action to protect international law and international humanitarian law, to protect the innocent people being killed in Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank, to protect the credibility of the United Nations Charter, and to protect the region from a regional war that will be devastating and prolonged. The whole world.

 

He stressed the continuation of coordination between Egypt and Jordan to end the Israeli aggression on the three fronts, pointing out that he informed Minister Badr Abdel Ati of the results of the visit he made yesterday to Beirut.

 

Safadi added that it is now necessary to support the Lebanese national decision to reactivate institutions and empower them, starting with the election of a new president of the republic, and we support what the Lebanese agree upon, and we believe that electing a president is in the interest of This is great for Lebanon because it will strengthen the state’s ability to deal with challenges.

 

He stressed the urgent need for humanitarian aid to Lebanon, as the number of displaced people now amounts to one million and 200 thousand.

Safadi condemned the Israeli aggression and bombing on Lebanon and the Lebanese capital, stressing that the Arab group presented one proposal after another to stop these wars and find a plan to achieve a just and comprehensive peace by embodying an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.  

 

The Jordanian Foreign Minister considered that the situation is truly on the brink of abyss, and there is no room for procrastination, and Israel should not be a state above the law. 

 

Safadi said that Jordan and Egypt have been careful from day one that displacement is a red line, and we will not allow it, and we will confront with all our capabilities to prevent displacement.
