
Jensen Ackles and Eric Dane‘s new action series, “Countdown,” has a set a June 25 date with a three-episode premiere on Amazon Prime Video
Amazon has also released first look-photos from the series, which can be seen below. The official synopsis for the series created by Derek Haas reads:
“When an officer with the Department of Homeland Security is murdered in broad daylight, LAPD detective Mark Meachum (Ackles), is recruited to a secret task force, alongside undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement, to investigate. But the hunt for the killer soon uncovers a plot far more sinister than anyone could have imagined, kicking off a race against time to save a city of millions.”
Ackles recently starred in “The Boys,” also from Prime Video, as Soldier Boy. He will reprise that role in the upcoming prequel “Vought Rising.” Over the years, he also appeared in “Gen V,” “Supernatural,” “Kings of Con,” “Justice League: Warworld,” “Dawson’s Creek” and “Days of Our Lives.” Dane is known for his roles in “Grey’s Anatomy” as Dr. Mark Sloan, where he starred in 139 episodes. He also appeared in “X-Men: The Last Stand,” “Burlesque” and “Feast.”
The cast is rounded out by Jessica Camacho (“Watchmen”), Violett Beane (“Death and Other Details”), Elliot Knight (“The Boys”), and Uli Latukefu (“Young Rock”). The series is executive produced by Haas and produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
As Variety previously reported, Ackles and his wife Daneel’s production company, Chaos Machine, is currently under a first-look deal at Amazon MGM studios. Haas is now under an overall deal at the studio. “Countdown” was developed as a starring vehicle for Ackles.
