Jamie Carragher brands Tottenham a ‘MESS’ after their woeful 3-2 defeat by Everton at Goodison Park… and claims ‘it’s like watching kids’ academy team’ under Ange Postecoglou

Jamie Carragher has slammed Tottenham following their defeat by Everton on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou’s men suffered a 3-2 loss at Goodison Park to continue their poor run of results in the Premier League this season

The Toffees raced into a 3-0 lead at half-time through goals by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Iliman Ndiaye and Archie Gray’s own-goal.

Dejan Kulusevski pulled one back for the visitors with a delicate finish in the 77th minute before Richarlison finished at the back post in added-time – but both goals proved to be just consolations in the end.

And Carragher didn’t hold back in his assessment of Tottenham as he analysed Gray’s first half own-goal.

The former Liverpool defender said while commentating on Sky Sports: ‘It’s like watching a kids’ academy team where they just keep playing the same way and the coach keeps telling them “don’t worry keep doing it. Results don’t matter”.

‘It’s a mess. Tarkowski gets his opportunity on the earlier set-piece and he comes in again. It’s just unfortunate for Archie Gray. He’s just got to throw his leg at it. It comes at him very quickly.

‘You can’t be getting beat 3-0 at half time against Everton. It could have been worse. This is a mess.’

The loss at Everton was Tottenham’s 12th from 22 league games this season, with the north London side in 15th.

However Postecoglou insists he has not lost belief and is optimistic his side will turn their poor form around.

‘No it doesn’t. If you look at the situation we’re in, it will eventually dissipate. I certainly hope and believe it will,’ the Spurs boss said

‘We’ll give ourselves the opportunity to get consistency in performance and results. I certainly haven’t lost belief or determination to turn it around and the players showed in the second half that they haven’t either.’
