Married At First Sight‘s (MAFS) Jacqui Burfoot and Clint Rice have brutally clapped back at folks who’ve claimed their recent engagement was a publicity stunt.
ICYMI, unlikely MAFS couple, Jacqui and Clint, took their relationship to the next level on Sunday night.
In a ‘yuge shock to the MAFS fan-base, the Tassie-based groom proposed to his boo-thang in Sydney during a MAFS Reunion viewing party hosted by So Dramatic!

Naturally, with reality TV being reality TV, and the timing of the proposal, some people accused the couple of pulling a proposal for clout.
But now, the polarising couple have spoken out about their big news and if their engagement was fake or not.
Speaking to PEDESTRIAN.TV, the couple confirmed that their brand spanking new relationship status is legit and that people who think otherwise are jealous or “projecting” their insecurities onto them.
“I saw the funniest thing. Someone self-claimed expert being like, ‘body language says that this is fake’. I was like, literally, we could be pregnant, and you’d still say the same thing. Like it’s jealousy,” Jacqui shared.
“You don’t move states, you don’t move halfway across the country for a fake relationship.”

Clint added that he noticed that it was certain types of people who were lashing out in regards to their engagement news.
“Funny thing is, it’s often the people that are saying that they haven’t found love, and the people that are in love are actually really supportive,” the former pro-golfer dished.
“So there’s a correlation between people that are happy and happy for us, and then people that maybe aren’t that happy that want to shed that negative light on us.”
One of the first people to make a dig at the couple was (unsurprisingly) Ryan Donnelly AKA Jacqui’s ‘husband’ on MAFS. During another MAFS reunion party, hosted by Daily Mail Australia, the self-proclaimed warrior groom made a joke at the pair’s engagement, fuelling rumours it was a PR stunt.
“It was completely candid and unplanned, not a publicity stunt, I’m so happy,” Ryan joked after being told the news.
In response to her co-stars suggesting the whole shebang was a “stunt”, the former lawyer urged her cast mates to stop “clinging on” to the show.
“Like, we haven’t spoken to you guys in months, like we’ve moved on with our lives. You should too. Stop clinging to the show. Move on,” she laughed.
While the pair have yet to start organising their nuptials, they did reveal to PEDESTRIAN.TV that one MAFS 2025 star will be jumping on the decks for their big day.
“We love Morena [Farina], like we are obsessed with Morena. We love her more than we love our relationship. We are obsessed with Morena,” the 2025 bride shared.
“DJ? Yeah, and she’ll probably end up being the godmother of our bloody children.”

Look. You can say what you want about the couple, but you cannot deny that they are head over heels for each other!
We love, love, and I’m glad these two managed to find it in the clusterfuck that is MAFS. Good on them.
