Jacob Elordi is spotted doing a very Aussie act at a Byron coffee shop… and his overseas fans are baffled
Jacob Elordi was caught getting involved with a very Australian act while visiting a coffee shop near Byron Bay.
The Hollywood star, 27, who is from Brisbane, was reportedly spotted making a very low-key visit to a local hotspot while visiting his native Australia this week.
TikTok user Blayne Hull took to the platform to share a video which he claimed showed the actor walking out of the coffee shop.
However, one action in the video left fans around the world in shock, though Australian residents weren’t surprised to see him getting involved with the tradition.
In the clip, the man believed to be Jacob walked completely barefoot while inside the café and didn’t appear to have shoes with him, sending Americans into a frenzy.
Taking to the comments section, some fans shared their shock as one wrote: ‘The no shoes in Australia still sends me.’
Another said: ‘Barefoot??????’ while a third penned: ‘He’s not even wearing shoes, you’re good.’
A fourth commented: ‘Wait the no shoes thing was serious?’ and another added: ‘If someone came up to me with no shoes I’m sorry but I simply cannot.’

However, Aussies were quick to set the record straight as they told how it is a very common tradition seen in every coastal town around the country.
One wrote: ‘For the Americans in the comments – we wear shoes in the city, beach / country is free toes lane.’
‘I’m loving the non Aussies totally freaked by the no shoes. beach town = shoe free zone,’ another shared.
While a third added: ‘In the Clurb (Australia) we all Fam (don’t wear shoes).’
Other fans were quick to question if the man was really Jacob, as his face was concealed beneath a grey hoodie and a baseball cap during the low-key outing.
However, TikToker Blayne told one doubting fan: ‘Haahaha on my mother’s beautiful life it was.’

Blayne also cheekily captioned the video: ‘I’ve been beat for the best-looking, mustached Aussie in my local coffee shop this morning.’
It comes after Jacob was recently hit by backlash after he and Margot Robbie were cast in an adaptation of Emily Bronte’s classic, Wuthering Heights.
In Emerald Fennell’s upcoming release, Jacob will take on the leading role of Heathcliff while Margot will portray his love interest Catherine Earnshaw.
However, the casting has proved divisive among fans as many took issue with the two actors nabbing the leading roles.
Fans were puzzled by the casting choice, noting that Catherine, who is no older than 19 in the novel, is being played by 34-year-old Margot.

Meanwhile, Heathcliff, whose character is about 40 by the end of the story, will be portrayed by 27-year-old Jacob.
Some also took to social media to accuse producers of ‘whitewashing’ the leading role of Heathcliff, who is described as ‘dark-skinned’ in the novel and is subjected to racist abuse.
Some fans also criticised the decision to use actors who they felt ‘look like they belong on Instagram’ in a period film set in the 1800s.
Others even questioned whether director Emerald, 38, who also directed Saltburn, has actually read Brontë’s classic novel.
