Jack Vidgen shares devastating update amid his addiction battle in tearful Boxing Day video

Jack Vidgen has shared a devastating update on his addiction battle as he revealed he has relapsed.

The Australia’s Got Talent star, 27, took to Instagram on Boxing Day to share a tearful video where he shared that he has been readmitted to a rehabilitation centre.

Jack, who has been in and out of treatment five times in the last few years, emotionally revealed that he spent Christmas in rehab amid his struggles.

He said: ‘I relapsed about three weeks ago and I’m back in rehab. It’s Boxing Day today, the day after Christmas and I just wanted to give you an update about where I’m at.

‘I know I’ve been MIA on socials for a few weeks and that’s why. I don’t have a whole lot to say, I feel a lot of shame and guilt and I don’t really have the words right now.

‘Withdrawals are starting now, it’s f**king hectic. So, that’s where I’m at.’

In a caption, the singer said he was thankful to be in a ‘safe space’ and addressed how difficult the holiday period can be for so many people.

‘It’s hard to find the words for how disappointed I am in myself right now and the shame I’m feeling,’ he penned.

‘This isn’t how I wanted to spend my Christmas but I’m grateful to be in a safe place. This is a really hard time of year for so many.

‘Please hold each other tightly and check in on those you think may be struggling.

‘I feel embarrassed to be posting this but also am committed to sharing my journey, even through the slip ups.

‘Relapse is part of recovery. Merry Christmas beautiful people.’

Jack was quickly inundated with support from his famous friends as they rallied around him during the difficult time.

Taking to the comments, Jodi Gordon wrote: ‘Sending you all my love babe, day at a time, you got this.’

Sprinter Katie Williams said: ‘No Shame here my brother. You are a human! You are allowed to be human. One day at a time my friend. You are INCREDIBLE.’

While Hannah Ferrier commented: ‘Sending you love. One day at a time. You’ve got this. Let go of the shame – you are human.’

Jack was last admitted to rehab in October after undergoing a five-week long relapse and shared an honest post to Instagram at the time detailing his struggles.

He said he was unsure what exactly caused his relapse, but guessed that the loss of two loved ones may have contributed.

‘As I write this I’m so terrified of judgement. I’m terrified of what people will think, what they’ll say or whisper to each other if I pass them by on the street,’ he wrote.

‘I’ve been so scared, for years, of this thing that lives inside me which is my addiction. I just wanted to let you in a bit and let you know, I’m not OK.

‘For years I’ve heard the saying ‘It’s OK not to be OK’ and never really known what the f**k that means. I feel like I’m somewhat understanding it now.

‘I’ve been in a five week long relapse where I haven’t been able to come up for air. My addiction has been the biggest struggle of my life and I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy.
