The Italian energy group Eni announced today, Saturday, that it has launched the Nagoya floating liquefied natural gas facility unit at the shipyard of the “Wesson Heavy Industries” company. In Nantong, China, to be deployed off the coast of the Republic of Congo.
Eni said – in a statement – that the Ngoya floating LNG unit will have a liquefaction capacity of 2.4 million tons per year and will complement the existing Tango floating LNG facility, which has a capacity of 0.6 million tons per year. million tons annually and has been operating since December 2023.
She added that combining the two will increase the total liquefaction capacity of the liquefied natural gas project in Congo to 3 million tons annually by the end of 2025.
In 2022, Eni signed a contract with “Wesson Heavy Industries” to China to establish a liquefied natural gas unit off the coast of the Republic of the Congo to increase LNG production and exports from the African country. It is the second facility to be deployed in the Republic of the Congo.
In February of this year, Eni announced that the Republic of the Congo had exported its first shipment. of liquefied natural gas to Italy, making the country an energy exporter.
Guido Brusco, chief operating officer of Eni’s global natural resources division, said in the statement: "We were the first to believe in the value of Congolese gas, in “Firstly for domestic energy generation, then for export.”
