Dr. Nasser Mandour, President of Suez Canal University, and authorized to facilitate the work of New Ismailia Private University, announced that the Supreme Committee for Supervising Student Union Elections at New Ismailia Private University has announced the final lists of candidates in the student union elections for the academic year, 2024-2025.
Dr. Nasser Mandour explained that the number of candidates is 270 male and female students, while electoral propaganda begins today, Thursday, November 21.
For his part, Dr. Adel Hassan, Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs at New Ismailia National University, indicated that according to the standards approved by the Supreme Council of Universities, candidates have the right to carry out electoral propaganda in accordance with the controls determined by the Supreme Committee for Supervising Elections and approved by the competent authority. The committees exclude anyone who uses religious or sectarian slogans. Or partisanship in electoral propaganda, as well as anyone who violates public morals, traditions, and university values.
Adel Hassan revealed the numbers of students nominated in each college, which were as follows:
Health and Applied Science Technology 54 male and female students, College of Nursing 32 male and female students, College of Dentistry 29 male and female students, Pharmacy 35 male and female students, Engineering 13 male and female students, International Trade and Languages 59 male and female students, Physical Therapy 28 male and female students, Human Medicine 19 male and female students. .
Dr. Ghada Haddad, Dean of the Medicine and Biosciences Sector, added that the list of prohibitions for students in electoral propaganda includes intentionally damaging college walls by writing election propaganda phrases and using color pens and printing on university walls, in addition to using religious slogans in propaganda, or using sectarian slogans in electoral propaganda. Or using political and partisan slogans for propaganda.
Dr. Suhair Abu Aisha, Secretary-General of the University, added that prohibitions in electoral propaganda for student union elections include destroying trees at the university to hang advertising banners, as well as promoting and publicizing external offices during electoral propaganda while distributing the electoral program, using loudspeakers on the roads and on campus, and using any Pictures, posters, or instructions that violate university norms and traditions.
While Dr. Adel Hassan explained that the first round elections in colleges, sorting, and announcing the results begin on November 24, and the runoff round will be held on November 25, then elections for committee secretaries and their assistants will be held at the college level on November 26.
According to the approved schedules, elections for the president and vice president of the union will be held at the college level on November 27, with the student elections ending with the election of committee secretaries and their assistants and the president and vice president of the university union on November 28.
The Department of Student Activities at New Ismailia University is following up on the elections within the colleges to determine the proper conduct of the procedures, under the supervision of Mamdouh Othman and Marwa Adly.
