Intelligence cooperation between Somalia and Turkey to combat money laundering and terrorist financing
Arab Defense Website September 27, 2024: I fell Somalia and Turkey agreed to enhance cooperation in exchanging financial intelligence information with the aim of combating money laundering and terrorist financing. The agreement was signed in Ankara, bringing together the Financial Reporting Center in Somalia and the Financial Intelligence Unit in Türkiye.
This agreement aims to prevent financial crimes through the timely exchange of data and expertise. The Somali government stressed the importance of this agreement in strengthening efforts aimed at preventing the flow of funds used to support illegal activities, including terrorism.
The agreement also includes cooperation in training programmes, workshops and capacity building efforts to improve the skills and efficiency of financial intelligence units in the two countries.
