India and Iran face the same threat from terror groups in the backdrop of the instability and power vacuum created in Syria and the two are seeking to strengthen their counter-terror partnership and coordinate their strategies against Al Qaeda and ISIS in West Asia, a senior Iranian official said here on Monday.
The situation in West Asia is volatile and threats from terror groups are real and can impact both India and Iran and the two may join hands to counter the threat, according to the official.
The issue will figure high on the agenda of Iranian vice foreign minister Takht Ravanchi, who is currently in New Delhi, to hold a series of meetings on issues including security partnership and the petrochemical complex in Chabahar Port.
