I’m a plastic surgeon and these are the ‘triple threat’ procedures behind Hollywood’s changing faces
A-listers are looking younger than ever and it’s all thanks to a trio of facial procedures, claims an expert.
Stars like Lindsay Lohan, style icon Donatella Versace, Melania Trump and other celebrities have burst back onto the scene looking almost brand new – and South Carolina plastic surgeon, Dr Dennis Schimpf, has told how this look can be created.
Chatter heightened when Lindsay Lohan, 38, stepped out in October rocking a youthful new face. So dramatic was the makeover, one aesthetic doctor speculated that the Parent Trap actress forked out nearly $300,000 to achieve the look.
Meanwhile America’s first lady in waiting, 54, sparked rumours of a facelift when she was seen with her husband and president-elect, Donald Trump, near Mar-a-Lago this month with an almost wrinkle-free face.
And Donatella Versace, who is allegedly no stranger to the knife after debuting a string of ever-changing faces over the years, floored fans at at the The Devil Wears Prada musical in London last week, as the 69-year-old looked younger than ever.
According to Dr Dennis Schimpf, the fresh glow sported by the aforementioned could be the result of cosmetic work done on their lips, cheeks and jawlines.
Speaking to FEMAIL, he said: ‘One thing that is consistent right now, especially with Hollywood celebrities is volumization of the face. Basically what these celebrities have done is increase volume in their cheeks, their jawline and their lips predominantly.
‘You can see in their lips that they’ve lost their natural contour in shape and have become more sausage-like appearing. They have increased volume in their cheeks that they did not have years ago, as well as improved definition of the jawline’.
Lindsay Lohan continues to floor fans after sporting a revamped, youthful glow. Her new look could be down to a trio of facial procedures, says an expert

The expert said there were varying ways to achieve a voluminous look, ranging from surgical to non-surgical, and named, according to his experience in the field, what procedures the stars may have had done.
‘There are multiple ways to increase this volume, including fat grafting products, such as sculpture and multiple injectable fillers’ he told FEMAIL.
Fat grafting is also known as a fat transfer, and can be done using injections. It is a surgical process that transfers fat into a specific area of the body to increase its volume.
Liposculpture and injectable fillers are both versions of fat grafting, and are typically used to reverse signs of ageing in the face, such as volume loss.
Speaking on the natural ageing process, he added: ‘With natural aging everyone loses volume in their face. We have resorption of our underlying bone structure, meaning the jaw, the cheeks, the chin all of these skeletal structures begin to decrease in size and undergo resorption.
‘In addition, we begin to lose soft tissue. This is a result of changes in multiple elements in the soft tissue including collagen, hyaluronic acid etc… and finally loss of elastin in the skin leads to skin laxity. All of these factors of natural aging lead to a decrease in volume of the face and an aged appearance’.
While Dr Schimpf noted that celebrities can look more youthful after having such work done, he explained it was challenging to achieve symmetrical results, often leaving the face looking ‘weird’.
He added: ‘I think one thing that’s evident too is that while Donatella’s lips are full and more youthful in theory, her under eye area has a great bit of skin laxity and shows dramatic ageing.
Melania Trump, 54, sparked rumours of a facelift when she was spotted out and about with her husband, Donald Trump, sporting a smooth, almost wrinkle-free face (Melania in Palm Beach last month)
‘The contrast between certain parts of the face looking much more youthful than other parts tends to lead to a weird appearance’.
He expressed that voluminization was a step in the right direction compared to some cosmetic processes of old, including silicone injections. He warned they were fraught with side effects and complications – often health related – and caused an extremely unnatural appearance.
Still he advised caution for those wishing to take the volumization route, adding: ‘There are obviously limits, and it [facial volume procedures] needs to be done in a natural approach where the goal should be to basically stabilize the ageing process and help offset the continuous volume loss without over volumizing the face and making it appear unnatural or weird’.
No doubt the scale of work these celebrities have had done is costly, with Dr Jonny Betteridge recently claiming that Lindsay Lohan may have spent up to a whopping $300,000 to achieve her look.
According to Dr Dennis Schimpf, the fresh glow sported by Melania and many celebs could be the result of cosmetic work done on their lips, cheeks and jawlines
Betteridge, who is the founder of the London based clinic JB Aesthetics, and has a background in Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics, shared an Instagram video listing the cosmetic tweaks he believes that the actress may have undergone.
Among the possible surgical procedures Betteridge believes the Parent Trap star has had are a face lift, an upper eyelid surgery, a nose job, and a surgical brow lift.
He stated that she could have had ‘some degree of surgical facelift’ and if so, it could have been done via an ‘endoscopic approach’, meaning it was minimally invasive.
He also thinks the actress could have had ‘botox, lip lift, lip fillers, and veneers.
Donatella Versace floored fans at at the The Devil Wears Prada musical in London last week, as the 69-year-old looked younger than ever (Pictured left: Donatella in New York in 2014; right: the designer poses on Instagram just days ago)
It’s no secret that the fashion icon has had work done, leading to a string of ever-changing faces (Donatella pictured in Paris in 1993)
Betteridge also analyzed Lohan’s skin in her latest photos and came to the conclusion that she may have had ‘laser resurfacing’ and had ‘a dermatologist led skincare routine.’
‘And the cost of this, if you combine everything together, would be in the range of $200-300K.’
A minimally invasive facelift uses small incisions to lift sagging facial tissue, while a surgical brow lift helps lift sagging eyebrows and reduce forehead wrinkles.
An upper blepharoplasty removes excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids, while a lip lift shortens the distance between the nose and upper lip.
Fillers add volume and Botox smoothes out wrinkles.
Meanwhile Lindsay’s dad, Michael Lohan, recently denied his daughter had ever had plastic surgery but revealed she had done ‘peels, fillers and Botox’.
Melania looked as youthful as ever during election night with her husband and president-elect, Donald Trump
He told Page Six: ‘Lindsay never had any plastic surgery done ever. Her look [is] so natural – just like her talent.’
Lindsay’s face has looked flawless and taut during recent outings.
The star revealed her low maintenance skincare routine in an October chat with Allure.
The Mean Girls actress said her main beauty focus is ‘taking care of my skin’ but admitted to dabbling with ‘laser, Morpheus and IPL’ in the past.
In addition she is now working with Jennifer Lopez’s Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn – who have put together her recent jaw-dropping premiere looks.
In the morning she uses a cold face towel and Avène Redness Expert Soothing Moisturizing Concentrated Cream or the brand’s Tolérance Control Soothing Skin Recovery Cream – which she praised for being ‘lightweight and hydrating and not overly greasy.’
Zac Efron (seen left in 2008 and right in 2021), 37, became a hot topic of conversation in early 2021, when fans noticed that he looked quite different from his High School Musical days
She also uses Peter Thomas Roth eye patches to de-puff her eyes.
Her go-to make-up look is ‘pretty light’ with the star saying: ‘If I wear anything, it’s Giorgio Armani Silk foundation or Kevyn Aucoin concealer. Maybe some eyeshadow if I’m going out, and Westman Atelier mascara.
‘One thing I’ve embraced more since becoming a mom is going out naturally and not feeling the need to put something on my face all the time. I think we live under pressure to look made-up, but I don’t feel that way anymore. I just want to look at myself and love myself for who I am.’
At night Lohan uses ‘Aveeno face wipes, some Avène face wash and then the redness cream at night again because after I take everything off, I get a little pink.’
Lohan said welcoming son Luai, now 17 months, made her determined to use products with basic ingredients.
The men of Hollywood are not to be left out, with actors Zac Efron, Sylvester Stallone and Mickey Rourke long rumoured to have had facial work done.
