I run a fake restaurant on a delivery app and make $400 a day from unsuspecting customers. I won’t let the jealous haters stop me
A savvy businessman has been slammed online after revealing he makes $400-per-day with a fake restaurant on a popular meal delivery app.
The man, who posted anonymously on Reddit, gloated about his success serving overpriced microwave meals to unsuspecting diners.
He explained he registered a company, purchased take-away boxes off Amazon and made some social media accounts for his ‘restaurant’.
He then signed up for a few delivery apps and was soon able to quit his day job.
‘I re-sell microwave meals… on some meals I add something to make them look better, like cheese,’ he said.
‘Should I feel bad? I feel kind of proud to be fair,’ he added.
He added that is is indeed operating legally with all of the appropriate insurances and certifications.
He does not have to operate from a commercial kitchen where he lives – but a hygiene inspector could come at any time.

‘I will pass without problem,’ he insisted.
Some were impressed by the man’s genius.
‘There’s someone in my area that does this but doesn’t even cook the food. They’re called “snax in the city” and they sell nothing but junk food; chips, pop, cookies, candy, and ice cream. Sounds genius if you ask me,’ one man said.
‘I love this, you don’t leave home and just add your own slice when you need dinner. So low-effort!,’ another laughed.
Other people were less than impressed.
‘I think it is kind of immoral,’ one person said.
‘This just adds to my restaurant anxiety,’ another said.
A third said: ‘Some shmuck microwaving your dinner with his hand down his pants while laughing about how smart he is. Is this really the guy you want to give money and trust food safety too? Some people are in here acting like this man reinvented the wheel too, which is even sadder.’
Some claimed to recognise the ‘scam’.
‘I think I probably ordered from you, so much sh**y delivery food,’ one man said in disgust.
And others revealed it ‘happens in physical restaurants too’.
‘I have worked in so many kitchens where things like lasagne or moussaka are heated per serve from a frozen slab,’ one woman said.
‘I ordered a Cornish pasty at a small restaurant, paid $7-8 USD for it, and heard them punching the numbers on the microwave a minute later. It was very disappointing,’ added another.
‘(I) Used to work in a Sainsbury’s café, people seemed surprised to learn that the food there is all just frozen ready meals, cooked in batches, and left in a hot cupboard for however long. They could have got the same thing for a quarter of the price just buying it off the shelf,’ a third chimed in.
They added drivers don’t seem to mind when they pick meals up from his home address
The businessman gave people tips to starting their own microwave restaurant service using delivery services.
‘Make sure you taste everything yourself, figure out the brands that taste best and what extra things you can add to your menu,’ he said.
‘If you don’t own your house or flat, look into the laws on that. I think the landlord has to give you his approval for running a business,’ he added.
‘So far only two people complained and I gave them a refund. They didn’t even say that it felt like a frozen meal, they just weren’t so hyped on the taste. Not hard to refund someone, when you have no employees to pay, no rent to pay or equipment to buy.’
Other people have revealed their disgust at ‘fake’ restaurants on delivery apps – but slammed restaurants with many different names and listings.
‘I can’t believe this is still allowed – all three of these are the same bad pizza place,’ one man fumed on Reddit – sharing a snapshot of three listings.
One driver revealed they picked up a Philly cheese steak meal from an ‘Italian restaurant’ and a barbecue meal from an ‘American’ restaurant – which actually came out of the same city-mall kitchen.
‘I know this pizza joint around the corner that literary has like 30 different names with delivery companies, from pizza, burger, wings, pasta, sandwich, etc. Yeah the food sucks,’ said another.
