There are rumours the glamorous cast members of Made In Bondi are making a surprisingly low amount of dosh for appearing on the polarising reality show, but Jai Kaldor has clapped back.
Look, it’s a show that you either love or hate, but the participants surely deserve to get a decent salary for entertaining the masses, no?
According to a sneaky source at Daily Mail, the influencers and socialites are earning as little as $70 per day. At least that’s enough to cover one bougie acai bowl in Bondi, I guess.
“The cast of Made In Bondi salaries are more embarrassing than the show’s storylines,” the insider spilled.
“The core cast are on minimum wage, and I was told that some of the cast were on $70 per day.”
According to the source, some of the family members of the core cast are concerned about how little their precious offspring are earning.
“He would be making more money as a busboy. Hardly worth the risk of ruining the family’s reputation,” they revealed.
However, icon Jai Kaldor shut these rumours down, telling PEDESTRIAN.TV: “You think I’d get out of bed for $70 a day?”. So true bestie, so true.
While the cast may not be earning much for their first season, if the show’s success follows in the footsteps of the original show, Made In Chelsea, there could be a bit of a pay bump coming up in the future.
According to The Tab, some Made In Chelsea cast members rake in £8,000 (roughly $15,666 AUD) per season. Plus, with their fame and influencer status, many can secure lucrative brand deals and other forms of income.
It’s not like this for everyone though — MIC star Louise Thompson earned just £25 (roughly $49 AUD) per day when she first joined the show. Hmm, that’s even *less* than the Made In Bondi cast.
“At the beginning it was £25 ($49 AUD) a day, then it went up to £50 ($98 AUD) after one series, and then after a while I was paid £200 ($391 AUD) a day and that was capped at that – that was the absolute max,” she told Elizabeth Day’s How To Fail podcast.
While this year’s crop of Made In Bondi cast members may not have earned much at all, I’m sure they’ll be able to negotiate a higher salary if there’s a season two. They’re now pseudo-celebs and there’s a bunch of us desperate to know what’s happening to them next!
