The moment a small-time actor from Argentina stabbed his estranged wife 28 times before turning the weapon on himself was captured on horrifying CCTV footage.
Sergio Sarria, 41, broke into the Big Pizza pizzeria – the spot where 45-year-old Débora, his ex-wife, is employed along with her new partner – in the neighborhood of Núñez, Buenos Aires, just last week, before the frenzied knife attack took place – leaving Débora with 28 brutal stab wounds.
‘He wanted to kill me like an animal,’ she said. ‘All the stab wounds I have are in my ribs, neck, face and one eye. It was terrible, terrifying. I have a big cut on my elbow because he cut me with that knife.’
The heart-stopping video footage showed Sarria as he jumped over the barrier that led into the kitchen and lunged at Débora – who was behind the counter at the time – with a large knife in hand.
A struggle quickly ensued after Débora was aggressively grabbed and repeatedly stabbed before she dropped to the ground and attempted to shield her face from the attack.
Débora’s current partner, along with another colleague, were captured as they attempted to stop the violent encounter – throwing things at him to intervene – while Sarria continued to crazily stab his ex-wife as she crouched down on the ground.
Débora, who described her ex-husband as being frequently abusive in the span of their previous 23-year marriage, was able to get up and flee the shop while Sarria took his jacket off and stabbed himself several times in the neck as police arrived.
‘Miraculously, he didn’t manage to kill me,’ Débora, who has since been released from the hospital, said. ‘I think in large part because of the help I got because they tried to hit him, to get him off me, but he was furious.’
Sarria is under arrest but remains in the hospital following his alleged suicide attempt.
