Hilarious moment Dan Burn is caught watching back his Carabao Cup heroics for Newcastle after arriving for his first day of England duty

Newcastle’s Carabao Cup hero Dan Burn was caught on camera watching a replay of the final during his first day of England duty under Thomas Tuchel.

Burn, 33, will become England’s oldest ever debutant if he features against Albania or Latvia this month, having earned his first ever international call-up at senior level.

The defender, who was let go by boyhood team Newcastle during his teenage years but returned to Tyneside following a move from Brighton in 2022, scored the Magpies’ crucial first goal of Sunday’s final before helping his side close out the historic 2-1 win against Liverpool at Wembley.

After joining Newcastle’s jubilant Carabao Cup celebrations, Burn headed to Tuchel’s England camp in the highest of spirits — but was eager not to forget the fairytale day in a hurry.

Hilariously, Burn was caught on camera watching back the game alongside former Liverpool and Sunderland star Jordan Henderson, and it happened to be the precise moment he wheeled away in celebration after scoring.

The footage, which was posted by England’s official account on social media platform X, was accompanied with the caption: ‘We get it, Dan!’

Eager to explain he wasn’t simply basking in his own glory during his first moments of England duty, Burn said in the video: ‘I’ve just turned up for that, I swear!’

His remark prompted a beaming grin and chuckle from Henderson, who was able to see the funny side.

Burn and England will hope to get off to a positive start under new manager Tuchel in their first two matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Tuchel, who officially started work on January 1 after being appointed last October, named his first 26-man squad last Friday.

On Monday afternoon, several stars were seen linking up for duty at England’s base at St George’s Park, including the recalled duo of Marcus Rashford and Henderson.

Tuchel was there to greet his players as they arrived and he looked delighted as he properly gets underway in what is his first role in international football.

Burn was pictured greeting both Tuchel and captain Harry Kane upon his arrival at England’s HQ, while Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly had a delighted expression on his face as he reported for Three Lions duty for the first time.
