Higher Education: The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology participates in a session with the World Intellectual Property Organization at the Climate Conference

Under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Gina El-Feki, Acting President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, and Dr. Tamer Hamouda, Supervisor of the Innovation and Marketing Sector, participated in a dialogue session in cooperation between the Academy and the Scientific Organization for Intellectual Property in the United Nations pavilion in the Blue Zone of the Climate Conference. COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, under the title “New and Renewable Energy and its Role in Confronting the Environmental Challenges of Changes” The session included a presentation of the importance of the role of innovation and technology in mitigating the effects of climate change and adapting to it.  

During the session, The World Intellectual Property Organization, in cooperation with the Climate Technology Center and Network (CTCN) and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in Egypt (ASRT), launched the third edition of the Green Technology Book (GTB), presenting its findings regarding innovations in the field of energy. to climate change.

The energy edition of the Green Technology book focused on rural areas, urban areas and basic services such as: (hospitals, data centers, and supermarkets), and covers all mitigation and adaptation solutions.

Dr. reviewed Gina Al-Feki supports the academy’s projects to maximize the research infrastructure and outputs in the field of renewable energy, and mentioned, as an example but not limited to, the Egyptian-Chinese laboratory in Sohag, its production capacity for solar cells, and the major role that the accompanying research laboratory plays in developing research. The relevant vision of Egypt and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on supporting the use of clean and renewable energy was also reviewed.  

The Innovation Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization also participated in the session, and representatives of the Office reviewed the importance of energy being part of the transformation of the agricultural sector, whether in rural, urban and peri-urban areas, with an emphasis on the importance and inclusion of technology.

‏The ITU also reviewed the multilateral Green Digital Action Initiative at COP 28, to promote expanded action between companies, governments and others, address the importance of green and climate-resilient digital infrastructure, and explore innovations such as submarine cables. Smart.

‏The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) discussed The contribution of energy technology to trade and development and its related initiatives.

‏The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) shared the insights of global innovation systems for clean technology, focusing on support mechanisms for the development and growth of technological innovations focused on the energy transition, and South-South and Triangular Cooperation, global and national trends, as shown in the Global CleanTech Innovation Index.
