If you didn’t manage to get to the cinema to see Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II, don’t stress! The massive blockbuster is available to buy or rent on digital from December 27, 2024, so you can watch it from the comfort of your own home.
The film stars Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger and more. So, if you want to see Mr Paul Mescal battling it out in his lil’ roman skirt from the privacy of your own home, you’re in luck.
As for me? I’ll be using the movie to create my own shrine to Mescal’s thighs. It’s what they deserve!

If for some reason you’ve been out of the loop, Gladiator II is the long-awaited sequel to Russell Crowe’s Gladiator, which came out in 2000. It’s set many years after Maximus’ (Russell Crowe) death, who was killed by Lucius’ (Paul Mescal) uncle.
Lucius has since been forced into slavery after Rome was taken over by tyrannical Emperors. He decides to enter the Colosseum as a gladiator to challenge the current rulers.
Gladiator II hit cinemas on November 14, 2024, and there was a ‘yuge red carpet premiere in Sydney to celebrate.

Gladiator II has nabbed a decent score of 71 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, and it’s landed on some top ten best films of 2024 lists, including one by the BBC and another by the National Board of Review. Not too shabby!
The BBC called it “colourful and wonderfully excessive”, which sounds perfect for this holiday season. Who doesn’t want to see over-the-top action and men in short skirts on repeat?
