Hisham Saudi- the union’s undersecretary, Dr. Eng. Tariq Wafik- Member of the Consultative Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, in which Professor Dr. Abbas Al-Zafarani- the dean of the former Urban Planning College at Cairo University, and Prof. Dr. Zahir Kahil- President of the Palestinian Council for Return Emaar Gaza, and via Zoom Technology, Engineer Ibrahim Al-Hindi- President of the Architects Association in Palestine. Prof. Hisham Saudi that the reconstruction of Gaza represents a huge engineering and humanitarian challenge that requires accurate planning and elaborate implementation to ensure the construction of a sustainable society and is able to face future challenges, pointing out that the process is not only limited to rebuilding buildings and destructive infrastructure, but also includes designing innovative solutions to improve Quality of life, enhancing flexibility in the face of disasters, and ensuring the optimal use of resources Available. Dr. Abbas Al -Zafarani began his lecture, as the reconstruction divided in stages, the first is titled & quot; Survival & quot; Initial needs such as food, water, shelter, health, mobility and energy include the second stage, the title & quot; stability & quot; It includes safety, work and economics, education, decent housing, compensation for human losses, and the third stage bears the title & quot; harvest & quot; It includes economic and political independence, openness to the world, enjoying life and compensation for pain, reaching challenges, creating opportunities from them and dealing with them in stages, stressing the need to preserve the ruins of heritage buildings to return them to what they were as possible as they represent the Palestinian identity, especially the invading nature. >
While Dr. Zahir Kahil reviewed a reference plan for reconstruction and development in the Gaza Strip dealing with each Planning, technical and executive aspects, explaining the importance of complete coordination between the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate, Palestinian competencies and relevant Palestinian institutions and is a reference for supporting governments (especially Egyptian), financiers, perpetrators and the international and private sector. Kahil reviewed the main procedures for early recovery efforts, such as increasing humanitarian and food aid, providing shelter centers and residential solutions, and resuming the provision of basic services to the population, calling for an international conference to reconstruct Gaza with the development of a unified plan from Egypt and Palestine engineers and the international pursuit of the case to provide 60 billion dollars To start reconstruction.
In his intervention, Eng. Ibrahim Al -Hindi said: & quot; as a Palestinian engineer, I assure the audience that the scene in Gaza is incredible of destruction, the residential neighborhoods turned into rubble, the streets that were filled with life have become ruin, and the infrastructure of roads, bridges, schools and hospitals was systematically destroyed, which makes reconstruction task not easy, The destruction is not only in buildings, but in the hearts of people who lost their homes and loved ones, and we We face a humanitarian catastrophe in every sense of the word, and the matter requires an urgent international intervention to stop this destruction and start a real reconstruction process & quot;, calling for holding international architectural competitions to provide designs for shelter for the people of Gaza. The buildings after the end of their role as an urgent shelter, such as converting them into administrative buildings such as hotels And hospitals.
