Head of the Sensing Authority: We trained 3,000 students to meet the need of the labor market

Dr. Islam Abu Al-Majd, Chairman of the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, said that the Authority recently trained about 3,000 students in various fields of science (geology, environmental sciences, and surveying) as part of the state’s strategy to provide society with qualified graduates capable of meeting the needs of The requirements of the local, regional and international labor market.

This came during his participation in the activities of the first Geographic Information Systems Forum (GIS Day), organized by the Egyptian Chinese University under the patronage of Dr. Karima Abdul Karim, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, and Dr. Rasha Al-Khouly, President of the University, in the presence of a group of specialists and academics from Egypt and China and a large number of students. 

Dr. Islam Abu Al-Majd pointed to the role of the Authority in supporting all national projects of the state, pointing out The number of employees at the Authority reaches about 530 scientists and researchers. He stressed that the authority has modern remote sensing devices, reviewing the authority’s role in supporting many fields, especially agriculture and livestock.

The head of the authority explained that geographic information systems can inventory agricultural crops and clarify the possibility of growing specific crops in some areas. Or not, pointing out that the field of remote sensing works in the field of groundwater, where signals are given for the locations of underground reservoirs, and it also works in the field of mineral wealth where a database is created for it, in addition to clarifying encroachments on state lands through satellites. Industrial.

He added that electronic platforms have been designed to help perform employees’ work tasks and detect any violations.

Many concerned authorities in the country and major international companies specialized in geographic information systems and sensing participated in the forum. Baad, along with representatives of the Information and Decision Support Center of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Environment, the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, and the Egyptian Geographical Society, in addition to a group of major international companies specialized in geographic information systems.
