Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud, Head of the Nursing Syndicate and Vice President of the Arab Board, participated in the activities of the First Arab Conference on the role of Arab immigrant health competencies in supporting health systems in Arab countries, which was held today in the Jordanian capital, Amman, and continues until tomorrow, Sunday.
She said that the conference witnessed a television speech by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, in which he stressed the necessity of developing a plan to preserve immigrant competencies, and Dr. Adel Adawi, Head of the Executive Office of the Arab Council for Health Specialties, also touched on, The former Minister of Health stressed the importance of achieving the optimal balance between developing the health sector in Arab countries and benefiting from the migration of some health talents from those countries.Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud indicated that the first Arab conference discussed the vision of Arab health ministers and immigrant talents. On the reality and challenges of health worker migration in the Arab region and government initiatives, to benefit from the Arab expertise of immigrant health talents, to support the Arab health sector.
She added that the conference discussed ways to mobilize Arab immigrant health talents, to support training and build the capabilities of health personnel in Arab countries, in addition to the role of the League of Arab States and the Council of Arab Health Ministers in qualifying health personnel and opportunities to benefit from immigrant talent, and the role of the Arab Council for Health Specialties in qualifying health personnel and opportunities to benefit from immigrant talent.
She stated that the conference sessions will be discussed. Ways to benefit from Arab immigrant health competencies to support and develop health care services and systems in Arab countries. The sessions will also address: Regulating health migration, return migration, and the reality of how Arab countries deal with the migration of health workers in terms of policies, programs and procedures taken to develop and retain human cadres, and cooperation between countries in the Arab region on migration.
She added that the conference sessions will also discuss Ways to benefit from Arab immigrant health competencies to support and develop health care services and systems in Arab countries. The maternal, newborn, and adolescent health model, and a vision to benefit from immigrant health competencies to support and develop maternal, newborn, and adolescent health in Arab countries in light of regional crises and needs.
