Harry Maguire misses HUGE chance to earn Man United win at Liverpool in the dying seconds – as Roy Keane and Daniel Sturridge debate whether defender is to blame or Joshua Zirkzee

Harry Maguire missed a huge chance to give Manchester United a last-ditch win against Liverpool.

The Red Devils held the Premier League leaders to a 2-2 draw with a resolute performance at Anfield.

Lisandro Martinez opened the scoring with a thunderbolt strike seven minutes into the second-half – but Liverpool responded soon after.

Cody Gakpo scored the equaliser before Mohamed Salah gave the hosts’ the lead from the penalty spot after a handball by Matthijs de Ligt.

Amad Diallo ensured the spoils were shared but Ruben Amorim’s men will feel they should have got more from the game.

With Just seconds remaining on the clock, Joshua Zirkzee pulled the ball back to Maguire, who fired the ball over the bar from close-range.

Sky Sports pundits Roy Keane and Daniel Sturridge clashed over whether Maguire should have finished as the ball from Zirkzee took a bobble.

Sturridge said: ‘Don’t bobble it into him, you’ve got all the time in the world.’

Keane added: ‘Know your players, expect the bobble. He’s not going to zip it into you perfectly. You’ve got to hit the target Harry. If it hits the target, no problem.’

‘He passed it as if he was cutting it back to shoot. We’re talking about an international player,’ former Reds striker Sturridge responded.

United boss Amorim praised Maguire’s commitment despite his miss.

‘For me, missing chances or playing badly with the ball is not the big issue,’ Amorim told the BBC.

‘For me, the big issue is that Harry gave everything on the pitch. That is the most important thing.’
