Grimes blasts ex Elon Musk for parading their four-year-old son X through Oval Office with Trump

Grimes berated her former flame Elon Musk for dragging their son X through an Oval Office press conference Tuesday while lamenting the overall lack of ‘decorum’ in American politics – despite fears of being ‘literally deported.’ 

Musk and his four-year-old son – whose full name is X AE A-XII – stole the spotlight from President Donald Trump while marking a DOGE-centric executive order to target D.C. bureaucrats.

The Canadian singer, whose real name is Claire Boucher, responded to the boy’s high-profile appearance after she was notified by a follower on X – the social media app that Musk purchased and renamed after the son they share.

‘He should not be in public like this,’ Grimes wrote. ‘I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.’ 

The singer has only spoken vaguely about Musk’s role in the White House, which only appears to grow by the day, but had previously called Elon’s public display of X as ‘a personal tragedy of mine.’

The musician also excoriated the lack of ‘decorum’ in public debate with a separate post on X that pleaded for ‘mature competent leadership.’

‘I think so much of what’s been happening over the last decade is simply that the art of diplomacy, oration, and generally competent leadership has been lost,’ Grimes wrote. 

‘The purpose of politics is to find solutions when the population can’t agree – but both sides have stoked hysteria rather than provide mature competent leadership.’

She praised ‘both republicans and democrats’ in previous administrations for showing ‘at least the veneer of respect towards the people – that is part of leadership. and that counts for a lot with regards to maintaining stability and yes, mental health.’

Grimes claimed that she wants politicians to stop ‘taking shots’ and ‘calling names’ and get to governing.  

‘When I see bills getting killed that technically everyone agreed on that would have been good – just because of infighting – one side needing to one up the other. It feels like it’s personal between them rather than abt serving the greater good,’ she said.

However, she clarified that these were ‘neutral general statements’ and was reticent to take a shot at anyone, as she is not an American citizen.  

‘I just don’t wanna be deported haha – like literally,’ she wrote in one response.

She reiterated her call for sanity in the replies to some of the media hype around Musk Tuesday night and added that she would be publishing an op-ed about it shortly.

‘I am asking you and everyone else to understand that our government was set up for coalitions and middle ground decisions. I am asking this person, and you – to stop calling each other names. Decorum is an incredibly important part of reality, long forgotten in America,’ she said to one follower.  

The pair, who have three children together, have remained public fodder as Grimes has battled to get custody in recent months.

The singer revealed in November she has been in a year-long custody battle with the father of their three children, during which time she allegedly did not see one of her children for five months.

The former couple share two sons, X Æ A-Xii and Techno Mechanicus, as well as a daughter Exa Dark Sideræl together.

Musk and Grimes dated from 2018 to 2022, but in recent times the X-owner has become a prominent figure in MAGA spheres. 

Musk sued for for custody of the children he shares with Grimes in Texas, where his businesses are headquartered. 

Grimes then counter-sued filing a ‘petition to establish parental relationship’ in a California court, typically seen as the first step in suing for custody for unmarried parents.

She claimed that Musk was withholding access to her kids and even prevented them from seeing their terminally ill maternal grandmother.

A Travis County Clerk confirmed that the Texas dispute had been settled, but declined to give further details.

Grimes claimed the ordeal almost left her ‘bankrupt’ and unable to make new music. 

‘I just slept and cried every minute I wasn’t explicitly fighting for my kids during that year,’ she said. 

It is not the first time the performer has used her ex-partner’s platform to call him out over custody issues.

She previously appealed to the mother of some of Musk’s other children, Neuralink director Shivon Zilis, begging her for  help in reaching Musk.

Zilis is the mother of Musk twins Strider and Azure, in addition to a child they welcomed earlier this year who has not been publicly named.

Musk has 12 children in total by three women. Wilson is the mother of his six oldest kids: Twins Vivian Jenna and Griffin and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian, all welcomed through IVF.

The couple had another daughter Nevada, who tragically died from from sudden infant death syndrome at ten weeks old.

Musk has stated his desire for a large family and frequently posts his concerns about the plummeting birth rate in several countries around the world.

Most recently, he warned Australians about their record-low birth rates.

Musk and his son X took over the Oval Tuesday afternoon to mark President Donald Trump signing an executive order. 

The order, which wasn’t immediately released by the White House, was intended to ‘significantly’ scale back the federal workforce, pushing agencies to hire ‘no more than one employee for every four employees’ that depart, according to Semafor. 

Trump didn’t even bother signing the order in front of reporters, allowing Musk to hold court with his toddler for more than 30 minutes instead, with the president asking Musk to reveal some of his findings.

‘We do find it sort of odd that, you know, there are quite a few people in the bureaucracy who have ostensibly a salary of a few hundred thousand dollars but somehow managed to accrue tens of millions of dollars in net worth while they are in that position,’ Musk said. ‘Which is what happened in USAID. We’re just curious as to where it came from.’

‘Maybe they’re very good at investing, in which case we should take their investment advice perhaps,’ Musk said. 

Trump rubber-stamped what Musk was up to, telling reporters, ‘We don’t want an unsuccessful guy doing this.’ 

‘And I fully expect to be scrutinized and get a daily proctology exam, basically,’ Musk joked. ‘Might as well just camp out there.’ 

Musk scoffed when asked about his ‘detractors’ and said the American people voted for these cuts. 

‘I have detractors? I don’t believe it,’ the South African-born billionaire replied. 

‘Well, first of all, you couldn’t ask for a stronger mandate from the public,’ he continued. ‘The public voted, a majority of the public voted for President Trump.’ 

‘We won the House, we won the Senate. The people voted for major government reform. There should be no doubt about it. That was on the campaign – the president spoke about that at every rally,’ he went on. 

‘People are going to get what they voted for,’ Musk insisted. ‘And that’s what democracy is all about.’ 

DOGE’s decision to quickly hole out USAID – the United States Agency for International Development – prompted criticism and protests, with Democratic allies in Congress standing alongside federal workers. 

There were also major concerns about Musk having access to the Department of Treasury’s payments system. 

Musk conceded Tuesday that DOGE’s actions haven’t been perfect. 

‘And we are moving fast, so we all make mistakes, but we’ll also fix the mistakes very quickly,’ the SpaceX, X and Tesla head said.  

Overall he justified DOGE’s assault on USAID. 

‘I think that there are some worth things but overall, if you say, what is the bang for the buck, I would say it’s not very good,’ Musk said. 

Right out of the gate, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt had claimed the DOGE unearthed $50 million being spent on condoms headed for Gaza. 

Trump added to that by suggesting that Hamas fighters were using those condoms to create ‘bombs.’ In the past, Hamas had used condoms, balloons and other inflatables to set fires to Israeli farmland. 

But on Tuesday, Musk conceded that the $50 million condoms to Gaza was an inaccurate figure.  

‘Some of the things I say will be incorrect and should be corrected,’ Musk said.
