Government spokesman: “Abydos 1” station was built 100% by Egyptian hands.

Counselor Mohamed Al-Homsani, the official spokesman for the Council of Ministers, revealed the details of the opening of the Abydos 1 power station in the Kom Ombo center in Aswan, southern Egypt.

He continued during a phone call to the Tahrir Hall program, broadcast on Sada El Balad channel, The government is preparing for next summer with new electricity projects so as not to resort to load shedding.

 

He pointed out that construction of the station began in March 2023 by Egyptian hands. 100% and at the administrative level, 95% of those responsible for the project were Egyptians.

 

He confirmed that the station generates 500 megawatts, along with other projects that will be opened in the field of renewable energy and electrical connection projects. With Saudi Arabia, Egyptian electricity needs amounting to 4,000 megawatts will be provided. Counselor Muhammad Al-Homsani, the official spokesman for the Council of Ministers, continued that the state aims to introduce new and renewable energies to the national electricity grid.

 

He explained that an agreement had been signed to establish a station that generates electricity from wind. In cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, this station will be in the Gulf of Suez, producing 500 megawatts and with investments of 600 million dollars.

 

Advisor Muhammad stressed Al-Homsani, the official spokesman for the Council of Ministers, said that studies on the project will take about a year, after which construction operations will begin, and therefore this station is expected to enter service in 2028.

 

He concluded that there will be The Abidos 2 project by the Emirati company Emma Power, which can produce 1 gigawatt of electricity, twice what is produced by Abidos 1.
