QT: Danger’s late goal draws margin to one point
Carlton 3.3 (21) lead Geelong 3.2 (20) at quarter time.
Patrick Dangerfield closed the margin to one point with a goal after the siren following a free kick. It’s the 350th goal of his career.
Physical game impacting both teams

Zac Williams is subbed out with a calf injury after kicking the opening goal, but he’s far from the only player who’s taken a hit early in this game.
Williams had recovered from the whack in the guts but then did his calf. Jack Silvagni is fit to play after heaving his injured hand strapped.
Tom Stewart is sore. He has been battling that knee issue band it is bothering him after pulling up sore from a marking contest. He is limping around like an old drunk falling out of the pub. Stewart needs to get off the ground as he trailed in Lachie Fogarty to that contest.

Stewart hobbles after awkward landing
Tom Stewart has pulled up sore after a marking contest. The defender raced to spoil a ball but began hobbling after punching the Sherrin.
The game has been marred early be injuries to Carlton’s Silvagni and Williams.

GOAL: Fogarty gets one against former side
Lachie Forgarty has scored a goal against his former club, giving Carlton a lead late in the first term.
Sam Walsh broke free from the midfield and found Forgarty with a nice entry kick.
Carlton 3.2 (2) lead Geelong 2.2 (14) with 2 minutes remaining in Q1.
Williams subbed out with calf injury
Carlton’s Zac Williams has been subbed off with a calf injury. Cooper Lord will take his place in the side.
Jack Silvagni will continue to play after having his fingers strapped after leaving the ground with a sore hand.
GOAL: Curnow converts deep inside 50
Charlie Curnow has kicked his first of the afternoon, after finding space deep inside the Blues’ forward line and taking a telling mark.
Carlton 2.2 (14) to Geelong 2.2 (14) with 6 minutes remaining in Q1.
Williams joins Silvagni in the rooms
Zac Williams has joined Silvagni in the rooms after he copped a whack in the breadbasket from Tom Stewart. I don’t think they are discussing the ’95 premiership reunion.
Silvagni has now returned to the sidelines with strapping on his affected hand.
Update on Silvagni
Jack Silvagni has headed down to the clubrooms with a finger issue. It’s clear to see how this game will pan out.
Carlton will want to force stoppages and try to gain territory and lock it in, whereas Geelong have more enthusiasm to get the ball outside the stoppage as they can run harder and a smarter by hand and foot.
GOAL: Stengle proves too quick
Tyson Stengle has kicked Geelong’s second goal, gathering the ball out the back of Carlton defenders and putting on the afterburners in front of Jacob Weitering to boot one home from the goal square.
Geelong 2.1 (13) lead Carlton 1.1 (7) with 11 minutes remaining in Q1.
Silvagni heads to the change rooms early
Jack Silvagni has gone into the rooms. It’s unclear what the issue is.
We will keep you updated on this.
