Germany expects a “heart attack” for the country’s economy without Russian gas

The head of the German Chemical Industry Association, Christian Colemann, announced that the German economy expects a “heart attack” in the event of a complete embargo on gas from Russia.

“In the event of a complete ban on gas, one should fear a heart attack in the German economy, especially in the energy-intensive chemical sector, without which all production would be paralyzed,” Coleman said.

He added that the situation with the chemical and pharmaceutical industries is still difficult, as they represent 15% of the total gas used in the country. In addition, the future of the ceramics, beverage and food industry is becoming unclear.

According to him, the vast majority of German production processes need chemical products. If there were no supplies from Russia, the consequences would be very dire for the country.
