"Geographic information systems and remote sensing"..a training course for"Al-Azhar Ambassadors" At the headquarters of Al-Azhar Alumni Organization

Today, at the International Organization of Al-Azhar Graduates, a training course began for female students of the Geography Department, at the Faculty of Human Studies for Girls, in Cairo, within the “Ambassadors of Al-Azhar” project, under the title: “Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, and Computer Applications,” with the participation of twenty female students. It lasts for six days, during which Dr. Shaima Muhammad Abdel Haq – teacher at the college.

 

Dr. said. Shaima, Geographic Information Systems is considered a branch of advanced science, and its importance increases with the increase in its capabilities and the ease of obtaining information. Geographic Information Systems consists of basic elements, which are spatial and descriptive information, computers, applied programs, and human power (labor). , and approaches used for spatial analysis. She explained that it is a computer-based system that collects, maintains, stores, analyses, produces, and distributes data and spatial and descriptive information for specific purposes, and helps in planning and decision-making, with regard to agriculture, city planning, and housing expansion, in addition to reading the infrastructure of any city, by creating What is called: LAYERS. 

 

She added that this system enables us to enter geographic information (maps, aerial photographs, satellite visuals), process it, and analyze it spatially and statistically. , and display them on a computer screen, or on paper in the form of maps, reports, and graphs, or through the website, and some of these elements will be focused on in detail, through future lectures.
