The Ministry of Social Solidarity seeks, during the year 2025, to strengthen social protection programs and provide support to the most needy groups by increasing cash support through “Solidarity and Dignity” programmes, and expanding economic empowerment programmes, by providing soft loans and small projects to improve families’ income, in addition to Programs to care for orphans and the elderly, and support health services.
The Ministry has disbursed support to 4.7 million families benefiting from support programs. “Solidarity, Dignity and Social Security” cash transfer, with total cash transfers amounting to 41 billion pounds annually, in addition to 13 million to 29.7 thousand beneficiaries within the “program” Child pension.
The Ministry indicated that all recipients of cash support “Solidarity, Dignity, and Social Security.” They benefit from the services of comprehensive health insurance, the health care program for those in need, and the treatment program at state expense, and cooperation is underway with the Health Insurance Authority of the Ministry of Health and Population in order to subscribe to general health insurance, for Takaful and Karama beneficiaries who are not residents of comprehensive health insurance governorates.
She explained that 93% of the beneficiaries of cash support receive food support of bread and goods, in addition to that 76 thousand beneficiaries of cash support receive services from the program for the first thousand days of a child’s life, and there are 2.2 million beneficiaries of cash support who receive reproductive health programmes, and 2 million beneficiaries of cash support receive literacy lessons in the age group 15-49 years.
The Ministry confirmed that relief aid was funded for 2,336 families affected by individual and general crises and disasters. With a total cost of 53 million pounds, noting that the state raised the value of compensation for victims of public disasters from 10 thousand pounds to 100 and then to 200 thousand pounds, and the international relief budget for Arab and African countries affected by natural and humanitarian crises and disasters reached 6 million pounds.
As for in-kind support, she indicated that food baskets were distributed to 18 thousand families. At a total cost of 2.16 million pounds, meat was distributed to 308 thousand families at a total cost of 69.6 million pounds, and cash and in-kind aid was provided to 14.25 million beneficiaries at a total cost of 9.77 billion pounds.14 housing units designated for children were also furnished and equipped. The care homes cost a total of 1.48 million pounds, as well as furnishing and equipping them 250 housing units allocated to the people of Warraq Island, at a total cost of 30.86 million pounds.
