French graffiti artist Théo Clerc awaits his appeal trial

Eight months ago, Théo Clerc, who traveled the world to create his graffiti, was arrested in Azerbaijan for a tag on a metro car in Baku. A breach of public order according to local authorities, a diplomatic hostage-taking according to his lawyer. The two friends with whom he was drawing, Australian and New Zealander, were sentenced to a simple fine. The Quai d’Orsay evokes a discriminatory judgment.

France advises against any travel to Azerbaijan due to the risk of arbitrary detention and unfair trial. Théo Clerc presented his apologies to the Azerbaijani authorities, hoping that they will be heard during his appeal trial.
