Former Married At First Sight bride Jessika Power has shared a distraught video on TikTok after her ex-boyfriend and underworld figure Sam ‘The Punisher’ Abdulrahim, was shot dead in Melbourne on Tuesday.
Abdulrahim — who was a former Mongol bikie — connected with Power through mutual friends in May 2019, shortly after he served time in prison for a high-speed car crash. Although their relationship was short-lived due to her worries about his underworld lifestyle, the former MAFS star told the Daily Mail that they stayed in contact.
“It’s been really, really hard to hear,” Jessika said tearfully.
“We ended on really good terms. He’s always been supportive to me if I needed him, even up until a few months ago.
“I just feel so sad for his wife and his child — she’s going to grow up without a dad and it’s such a toxic world to be in that underworld thing.”
Power said that despite the negative connotations surrounding bikies, Abdulrahim was a good man and a “great protector”.
“Everybody looks at these bikies and Mongols as bad people, but he was a family man, he was dedicated to his family,” she explained.
“He was protective of his family and he was certainly protective of me when we were together. He’s a dad, he’s a husband, he’s someone’s son and he’s just a really good guy.”
Abdulrahim’s death comes after multiple attempts at his life. In June 2022, he was ambushed and shot eight times outside of a cemetery during a funeral procession. In June 2023, a shop owned by Abdulrahim was firebombed three times in three weeks. In May 2024, he survived another nighttime ambush outside his home in Thomastown. He went into hiding soon after.
In June 2024, his home was targeted again by a drive-by shooting. In August, his home was also firebombed.
