Former gang leader ‘claims he’s agreed a boxing fight against Tommy Fury’ – after former Love Island star pulled out of bout with Darren Till
Tommy Fury is reportedly closing in on a comeback to boxing after former gang-leader-turned-boxer Matt Floyd claimed he has agreed to a fight in March.
After more than a year out of competition, it was announced in December that Fury would take on former UFC title challenger Darren Till in a bout scheduled for January 18.
The slated clash was set to mark Fury’s first fight since defeating KSI in a lacklustre decision in Manchester in 2023.
Fury pulled out of the fight following a heated press conference where Till threatened to kick him in the head if he was losing the bout.
Misfits co-president Mams Taylor claimed last month that talks were underway to find a new fight for Fury.
Floyd, who holds a professional record of 15-1, has since claimed he will take on Fury.

Australian boxer Matt Floyd has claimed he will face Fury in London on March 29
The Australian fighter initially claimed a fight had been arranged for March 22, before sharing an purported promotional image for a fight on March 29.
Floyd is a former president of the Western Australia chapter of the Lone Wolf Biker Gang, but has since turned to boxing and mentoring young people.
‘The date for the fight has now been moved to the 29th of March, this fight is a culmination of everything I’ve worked, and no matter what obstacles or delays come my way the goal will remain the same,’ Floyd claimed on social media.
‘I’ve never had a social media team or any real help. I’ve built everything myself, figuring it out as I went, with a bit of support along the way.
‘In my 20s, I was in prison for leading a gang, but it was all part of my effort to do something positive for society. I grew up surrounded by pedophiles, and that experience is what drove me to protect the innocent. No one knows where I’ve come from or what I’ve been through, but I’ve always kept pushing forward.
‘My last three fights I fought with a broken hand, but I said nothing. Hurdle after hurdle but each one fuels me more.
‘I’ve faced corruption in Thailand against a fighter who’s largely considered Asia’s greatest of all time, but I’ve risen above it. Time and again, I’ve proven I won’t stop. I’ve built my career from nothing, and it’s been a relentless grind to where I am today.
‘Everything I have ever said is gonna happen has happened and this will be no different. I’ve known for two years that I would fight Tommy Fury.
‘If he pulls out like he usually does, I will fight and beat @tymitchellofficial, @anthony_prettyboy or @darrentill92 but I will fight Tommy eventually.’
Fury has been out of the ring since beating KSI after undergoing major surgery on his hand
Despite Lloyd’s claim and posting of promotional material, the fight has yet to be confirmed by Fury or Misfits.
Lloyd, who is known as ‘The Jedi’, last fought against Thailand’s Sirimongkhon Iamthuam in December.
The 31-year-old, who has regularly fought in Australia and Thailand, avenged his only provisional defeat of his career by winning the bout.
Fury has a record of 10 wins and one draw during his career, but last fought against KSI in October 2023.
Speaking to Mail Sport in November, Fury claimed 2024 had been the most challenging year of his life as he fought to save his career following major surgery after a hand injury.
‘It’s been the hardest year of my life,’ Fury admitted. ‘I’ve never had a year like it. There have been ups and downs, but at the end of the day, I’m here.
‘Starting the year out, I was in a hospital bed, and the doctor said if I didn’t fix this now, I probably wouldn’t box again. To be honest, it was that bad.’
