Foreign Minister: Intensifying cooperation between the countries bordering the Red Sea to protect their national security

Dr. conducted Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, had a telephone call yesterday evening, January 11, 2025, with Mahmoud Ali Youssef, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Djibouti, where the call discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. 

 

< p>Minister Abdel-Aty stressed the depth of the historical relations between Egypt and Djibouti, and Egypt’s keenness to strengthen cooperation frameworks in the political, economic and development fields in a way that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples, referring to the communication The phone call between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, on October 30, 2024, within the framework of the distinguished partnership that brings together Egypt and Djibouti and the keenness to support joint cooperation in the fields of development, trade, and achieving security and stability in the Horn of Africa region.

The call dealt with regional issues of common interest, most notably developments in the Horn of Africa, supporting Somalia and preserving its unity, stability and territorial integrity, as well as exchanging visions regarding  Tensions in the Red Sea and their effects on maritime navigation and international trade, where the two ministers stressed the importance of intensifying cooperation between the countries bordering the Red Sea in order to protect their interests and national security and coordinate to confront various threats. 

At the conclusion of the call, the two sides agreed to Continue joint coordination to strengthen bilateral relations and support cooperation within the framework of regional and international organizations.
