Football at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: 1984 Olympic champions invited to the Parc des Princes for the final
The French winners of the 1984 Olympic football tournament have been invited by the French Football Federation (FFF) to attend the final on Friday 9 August, pitting the French team against Spain, the Sports management of Radio France has learned from a federal source, confirming a newspaper report The Parisian.
All the players and staff were invited by the FFF. In 1984, the team led by Guy Lacombe, Daniel Xuereb and Albert Rust won Olympic gold in Los Angeles, beating Brazil 2-0 in the final. This is thethe only time the French team has won the Olympic football tournament.
The Blues will therefore try on Friday at the Parc des Princes to repeat the feat of their elders forty years ago. Thierry Henry’s players qualified for the final after beating Egypt 3-1 on Monday evening.
