Farmer Wants A Wife’s Daisy Slams Show’s Focus On Drama

Another Farmer Wants A Wife (FWAW) victor has slammed the reality TV show’s sudden thirst for drama, describing the pivot as “really sad”.

For those who are not familiar with the realm of reality TV dating shows, FWAW is considered to be on the more wholesome side in comparison to its competition, like Married At First Sight (MAFS).

Alongside that wholesome factor, FWAW is also one of the more successful matchmaking shows out there!

However, it appears that this year’s rodeo has been quite drama-fuelled, with two contestants spoiling their storyline ahead of the show’s premiere, one farmer being allegedly axed for being a root rat, and two contestants being teased to leave the competition prematurely.

In a recent chat with Yahoo! Lifestyle, Daisy Lamb, who found love in 2024 with Farmer Todd, slammed the show’s recent pivot, suggesting it was the showrunners who were thirsty for that reality TV tea.

“It’s definitely the producers that chase that. The farmers are always so nervous when they go into it, and they just want an easy time, but drama sells,” Daisy dished.

“People watch it for the drama, and it’s just really sad that that’s the way that Channel Seven has felt the need to go rather than just keeping it to the original first 12 seasons or something. They were so wholesome and just a really great watch.”

While the 2024 winner hopes FWAW moseys on back to its sweeter roots, she has her doubts due to last year’s finale’s ratings, which were sky high!

“If nothing changes with the audience and the viewers, then nothing will change with their production either,” she adds.

This isn’t the first time Daisy has called out the show for its thirst for drama. Previously, in 2024, the active wear founder slammed her edit, stating it was “disappointing and disgraceful”.

“Unfortunately, the editing in this series is disappointing and disgraceful (to say the least) and has given viewers the wrong idea of what happened, who I am and how the whole experience with Todd played out,” she told Yahoo! Lifestyle.

“The other girls had plenty of time, we all had opportunity to speak with him and spend time alone with him and it’s sad that, what could have been an amazing story, has been turned into something so foul.

“Keep shining your light guys.”

Daisy’s brutal takedown on FWAW‘s sudden focus on drama comes a week after fellow FWAW 2024 winner Sophie Trethowan also called the show out for its attention to drama.

“I guess everyone loves a bit of drama, and that’s why people do stay tuned in, but there are a lot of people who do just really like those genuine love stories,” Threthowan dished to Yahoo! Lifestyle.

“I know for me and Dustin, there was so much that didn’t go to air that wasn’t drama-filled. They were just really nice moments.

“I guess it is a drama reality love show at the end of the day, but you do see lots of comments where people just want to see those genuine love stories, and I feel like a lot of things get left out.”

Look, as a certified reality TV baddie who thrives off that juicy drama, I do appreciate the wholesome moments, and maybe that’s what we need from FWAW.

After all, it takes yonkssss for us to recover from MAFS. And heck, the fallout from 2025 is still going!!!

Fingers crossed FWAW brings us that sweet, sweet balance of chaos and wholesomeness that proves love is real.

Farmer Wants A Wife returns Monday, 7.30pm on Channel 7 and 7Plus.
