Patrick Mahomes crumbled on the biggest stage of all in the Super Bowl on Sunday night but some fans think the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback may have got concussed early in the game.
With the Chiefs at 3rd and 9 in the first drive of the Super Bowl, Mahomes looped out of the pocket back in on himself and as he finally released the ball, Jalen Carter dived and took him to the ground.
As Mahomes fell, his head slammed against the ground with his throw nearly intercepted. The Chiefs quarterback was quickly back up on his feet but given how badly the rest of the game unfolded for him, it led fans back to the incident.
One fan shared a clip of the moment saying: ‘One of the worst games I’ve ever seen Patrick Mahomes ever play. Been off all game.
‘And maybe this is why. Was He Concussed early in this game???’
Other fans asked the same throughout the game with Mahomes sacked on multiple occasions – six and counting with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Patrick Mahomes’ head slammed into the ground after Jalen Carter’s tackle at the Super Bowl
‘Mahomes looked concussed after the 1st sack. Somehow doctors didn’t see him stumble, then sacked again and pick 6. Hmm,’ another fan wrote.
There were multiple other moments during the game – where Mahomes was sacked or seemed to throw an inexplicable interception by his imperious standards – where fans wondered if he has troubled by a head issue.
Fans streamed to X throughout the game to question if Mahomes was ok, with some saying that there were moments were he looked glazed on the sideline.
Mahomes made no mention of the issue when he faced up to reporters after the game.
‘They played better than us from start to finish,’ Mahomes said. ‘We didn’t start how we wanted to. The turnovers hurt. I take all the blame for that. Those turnovers swing the moment of the game and they capitalized on them.
‘They scored on one and got a touchdown immediately after another. That’s 14 points I gave them. It’s hard to come back from that in the Super Bowl.
‘I didn’t play to my standard and I have to be better next time.’
Mahomes also addressed fans on X, writing after the game: ‘Appreciate all the love and support from Chiefs Kingdom.
‘I let y’all down today. I’ll always continue to work and try and learn and be better for it. Want to give thanks to God for every opportunity he has given me. We will be back.’
