Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 has officially kicked off, and fans are already heated at one groom who ghosted his reality TV bride eight months before they were unexpectedly matched on the show. AWKIES.

January 27, 2025, marked the return of MAFS to our daily routines, and right off the bat, the reality TV gods gave us a mammoth cluster fuck. Two former flames (more like mutuals) matched on the show!
Meet Carina and Paul, our first couple of the season and our first-ever exes to be paired on the show!!
To give you a little recap, things were going swell before the truth bomb.
The pair actually looked like a deece couple — yes, I’m bringing back Ridge‘s deece — and even Carina‘s family were even swooning over her husband-to-be.
But shortly after the first MAFS 2025 pair said “I do”, Carina dropped the bombshell to a producer, revealing that this was not in fact a marriage at first sight.
“Am I gonna get a different guy or what?” Carina can be heard saying to a MAFS crew member.
Carina claimed she matched with Paul eight months ago, but unfortunately, things fizzled out after he bailed on a second date.
Did Paul recognise Carina? Hell, fucking, yes.
Speaking to a crew member, Paul revealed that he was going through a “rough patch” when he first met his MAFS bride and that he felt bad for ghosting her.
In hopes of not spoiling his chance at fame love, Paul said he intends to tell Carina what he was going through and apologise for his disappearance.
RIGHTFULLY Carina admits she is pissed that she’s matched with a bloke who ghosted and fans are not convinced by Paul’s remorse.

Did Married At First Sight producers purposely match exes Carina and Paul for drama?
While the MAFS executive producers Alexandra Spurway and John Walsh didn’t share if they had any say in who gets matched with who, they did share it was “the first time ever, people have met before” they went on the show.
“It’s interesting that it’s taken this long for it to happen,” Alexandra told PEDESTRIAN.TV.
That being said, I will need to sign up for this show alongside one of my fave situationships… for science!
