Fans go wild for ‘different breed’ Lamar Jackson after Ravens QB’s insane 58-yard run in win over Bengals

Lamar Jackson wowed fans on Thursday night with an outrageous scramble against the Bengals.

With Baltimore facing a 2nd-and-9 from the Cincinnati 11, Jackson was forced back by the Bengals’ pass rush as he backtracked past the 30-yard-line.

Incredibly, though, he managed to evade the defenders and walk a tightrope down the sideline to gain a first down before being tackled inside the one-yard-line.

The incredible 10-yard-gain – which set up a Derrick Henry touchdown run – actually saw Jackson travel 58 yards across the field, and fans were in awe of what they witnessed. 

‘You can’t even do this on Madden… the stamina bar doesn’t let you,’ one said on X.

‘Lamar is a different breed,’ another said.

According to NFL Next Gen Stats, who accounted for the 58 yards he traveled on the play, Jackson also did not cross the line of scrimmage until 10. 1 seconds after the snap.

He also had just a four percent chance of gaining a first down on the play, they said.

‘As long as it’s not 0%, Lamar can work with it,’ a fan replied.

However, some viewed the feat as an indictment on the NFL’s current rules for defenders, with one saying, ‘This happens when the defense is scared to hit the QB.’

Jackson finished the game with four passing touchdowns and 290 yards through the air as the Ravens scored 21-fourth quarter points to eke out a dramatic 35-34 comeback win.

The high-octane, back and forth affair featured several long touchdowns and an outrageous  264-yard, three-score night for Ja’Marr Chase, but the Ravens ultimately came out on top.

Their huge fourth quarter was kickstarted by an 84-yard catch and run touchdown by receiver Tylan Wallace, though Chase promptly replied with a 70-yard touchdown just 13 seconds later.

Baltimore scored a touchdown on four straight drives to end the game, and the final of those put them up seven with 1:49 remaining as Rashod Bateman caught a four-yard lob from Jackson.

 But the Bengals had one more answer.

Cincinnati drove down the field with Burrow and Chase connecting once again for a touchdown, setting up a would-be tying extra point with 38 seconds left.

Instead, coach Zac Taylor opted to go for two but the attempt fell flat as a pass to Trey Hudson fell incomplete.

An unsuccessful onside kick signaled the end of the game for the Bengals and a heartbreaking sixth loss of the season for the visitors.
