From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it’s investigating the financials of Elon Musk’s pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, ‘The A Word’, which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup has been made as the remaining 16 sides discovered their fate as the competition intensifies.

Plymouth Argyle’s reward for their giant-killing of Liverpool is a meeting with another of the Premier League’s biggest clubs with a last-16 trip to face Manchester City. Holders Manchester United, meanwhile, are handed a home tie against Fulham as they look to make the quarter-finals.

Preston North End and Burnley collide in an all-Lancashire clash of Championship clubs, with second-tier Cardiff City travelling to Aston Villa. Crystal Palace will face Millwall in a south London derby if they progress past Doncaster Rovers, with Ipswich awaiting the winner of Exeter vs Nottingham Forest. Finally, there are two all-Premier League encounters: Newcastle United vs Brighton and Hove Albion and Bournemouth vs Wolves.

Theo Walcott and Alex Scott will be doing the drawing on the ever-jarring rollercoaster ride that is The One Show this evening, a couple of former Arsenal stars no doubt disappointed not to have their former club in the hat.
