"External" A celebration is organized as part of a nomination campaign "Dr. Al-Anani" For the position of General Manager of the organization "UNESCO"

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration organized a celebration today, Monday, as part of the campaign to nominate Dr. Khaled Al-Anani for the position of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). At the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.

Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, in the presence of  Ahmed Moallem Faqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia, as guest of honour, and a number of ministers, in addition to Amr Musa and Sameh Shukry, former Egyptian Foreign Ministers, and Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Economic Development, Major General Khaled Fouda, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Local Development, and two representatives of the House of Representatives, Counselor Ahmed Saad El-Din Mohamed Abdel-Rahim, and Mohamed Abu Al-Enein, in addition to nearly 100 accredited ambassadors in Cairo, and a number of senior officials and public figures. < /p>

Dr. delivered. Badr Abdel Aty gave a speech during the celebration in which he stressed that the momentum gained by the Egyptian nomination came as a result of the weight of the Egyptian state and the countries’ appreciation of the extensive scientific, cultural and administrative experience of Dr. Khaled Al-Anani.

He highlighted that Egypt has spared no effort in supporting peace and enhancing international cooperation to achieve Development, security, stability and prosperity, noting that Egypt pushed for the nomination of Dr. Khaled Al-Anani was appointed to the position based on his vision, experiences and qualifications, which qualifies him to lead UNESCO, especially since no Arab official has ever held the position of Director-General of the organization since its inception, stressing that the time has come for Arab and African countries to be represented in the organization.

Minister Abdel-Aty stressed that Intertwined global challenges require the international community to come together, and for multilateral cooperation to be a priority in order to effectively address these challenges. He stressed Egypt’s firm belief in pluralism and strengthening the work of international institutions, noting the important role played by UNESCO. To promote peace through education, science and culture.  

He added that "UNESCO" It receives great Egyptian attention at both the official and popular levels, as Egypt  One of the founding countries of the organization, in addition to its active participation in its various work mechanisms, noting Egypt’s previous cooperation with the organization in many and diverse projects.   

For his part, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani thanked the confidence placed in him by the political leadership and the support his nomination for the position of Director-General of UNESCO received from all state institutions, praising in particular the efforts made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is responsible for Electoral campaign management. 

In his speech, Al-Anani also reviewed the progress the nomination has come since the Prime Minister announced it on April 5, 2023, and the electoral rounds that took place. Conducted by Dr. Al-Anani to learn about the viewpoints of different countries to formulate an electoral vision that enjoys international consensus.
