Exhibitions Authority: 19 publishing houses participate in the Algiers International Salon to enhance the Egyptian cultural presence in the Maghreb
The Egyptian General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences organized a distinguished pavilion in cooperation with the Export Council for Printing Packaging, paper and books The artistic works extend over an area of 296 square meters at the Algiers International Book Salon 2024, with the participation of 19 Egyptian publishing houses that present a wide range of books and publications that reflect the diversity and creativity of Egyptian culture. The exhibition continues until November 16, and is a great opportunity to strengthen cultural relations between Egypt and Algeria, and to present Egyptian literary production to readers in the Maghreb.
Major General Sherif Al-Mawardi, Chairman of the Egyptian General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, said that &ldquo Egyptian participation in the Algiers International Book Salon confirms Egypt’s cultural status and its role as a soft power in the region. The Authority always seeks to support Egyptian writers and authors and highlight Egyptian literary creativity, especially in the Maghreb countries such as Algeria, which has long-standing cultural and historical relations with Egypt. He added that these events contribute to strengthening cultural communication between Egypt and the countries of the region, which reflects the great importance that the Authority attaches to the Egyptian cultural presence in international forums.
Cultural exchange and supporting Egyptian publishing houses
The Major General explained Al-Mawardi said that the Egyptian Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences is keen to provide all facilities to Egyptian publishing houses to enhance their presence in foreign markets, noting that “cultural exchange with Algeria and the rest of the Arab Maghreb countries is one of The Authority’s priorities, especially since the Egyptian book has had a great influence in the Arab region thanks to its ancient history and the richness of its literary and intellectual content. He continued, saying that supporting these participations provides fruitful opportunities for publishing and exchanging ideas, and enhances Egypt’s position as a regional and international cultural reference.
