Everything you want to know about the Egyptian-Greek-Cypriot summit in Cairo today

Today, Cairo is witnessing a tripartite summit between Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus, between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, his Cypriot counterpart, Nikos Christodoulides, and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

 

This is the tenth summit between the leaders of the three countries, since the establishment of the tripartite cooperation mechanism, which began with holding the first tripartite summit in Cairo in 2014, after which summits followed in the capitals of the three countries, to support the cooperation mechanism and discuss regional and international issues of common concern.

 

Summit topics

The summit is scheduled to address developments in the situation in the region, especially the war files in the Gaza Strip, developments in Syria, and the crises in Libya, Sudan and Somalia. On the economic level, the meeting aims to enhance cooperation in the field of energy, through the electrical connection between Egypt and Greece and energy projects. Renewable energy and green hydrogen, as well as discussing a number of regional and international issues of common interest.

 

Egyptian-Greek-Cypriot Economic Forum

On the sidelines of the summit, the Egyptian-Greek-Cypriot Economic Forum will be held, with the participation of ministers and representatives of some companies from the three countries, more than 70 Cypriot and Greek companies, and 200 Egyptian companies.

 

It is worth noting that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, received today, Wednesday, his Cypriot counterpart, Nikos Christodoulides, and Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, at the Federal Presidential Palace in Cairo.
