EU ambassadors will begin discussions on November 27 regarding the 15th sanctions package against Russia, according to Reuters, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The new sanctions package is set to impose restrictions on 29 companies, 54 individuals, and 48 tankers transporting Russian oil. The measures will also target Russian and Chinese drone manufacturers. The package is expected to be finalized by the end of 2024.
On November 18, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated that the EU is considering additional restrictions on Russia’s energy sector, as well as on Russian individuals, including athletes, religious figures, and UN officials, under the 15th sanctions package.
Earlier, the EUobserver portal reported that the EU had started work on the 15th sanctions package against Russia. The package could include measures targeting Russia’s tech sector, a ban on importing liquefied gas, restrictions on energy cooperation, and tighter controls on Russian oil trade.
Thus, the European Union continues to expand its economic pressure on Russia, aiming to weaken its economy further and enhance global efforts to isolate Moscow amid its ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
