Egypt takes over the presidency of the Group of Eight developing countries from Bangladesh

Share Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, today, at the 21st session of the Council of Ministers of the Group of Eight Developing Countries (D8), which is held in preparation for the eleventh summit of the Group of Eight Developing Countries, which is kindly welcomed  The President of the Republic will chair it tomorrow, in the presence of heads of state and government.

The G8 Council of Ministers meeting witnessed Egypt handing over the presidency of the group from the Republic of Bangladesh. In his speech, Minister Abdel Ati discussed the precise timing of the summit, its coincidence with pressing regional and international events and unprecedented economic challenges, highlighting its direct repercussions on developing countries. Minister Abdel-Ati discussed the consequences of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and the resulting humanitarian catastrophe and destruction of infrastructure, as well as the extension of the Israeli aggression into Syria and Lebanon in flagrant violation of international law, which prompted Egypt to take the initiative to hold a special session on Palestine and Lebanon during the summit work tomorrow.

 

Regarding the prospects for future cooperation among the countries of the group, she stressed. Abdel Ati stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation among the members of the group in all sectors and exploring new opportunities for economic and commercial cooperation, stressing the importance of empowering the private sector, attracting investments and creating a climate to encourage more cooperation among the group’s countries as well as empowering youth.
