A police operation is underway after hundreds of shoppers were evacuated from a shopping centre in Sydney’s east.
Shoppers looking to buy their last-minute Christmas gifts were evacuated from Eastgate Bondi Junction at about 11am on Monday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and blocked off Spring Street, with reports a suspicious package was left outside the exit of the Coles checkouts.
Police did not confirm the reason for the evacuation, but told Daily Mail Australia the operation was a ‘precaution’.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area, with diversions already in place to redirect local traffic.
