Doja Cat’s guide to manifesting a man

This weekend, rumours began swirling that Doja Cat and Stranger Things actor Joseph Quinn are dating, after pictures and videos shared on X seemed to show them both looking loved up while hanging out in London.

One clip shows the pair with their arms wrapped around each other, while a separate picture shows them enjoying a night out at Camden music venue Dingwalls. Another photo taken later on that night appears to show the musician and actor having drinks at a pub.

Over the last few months, fans have been speculating that Doja Cat had split from her former boyfriend J Cyrus, after she was allegedly spotted on celebrity dating app Raya.

Doja’s new romance is a masterclass in manifesting a man, as she’s been vocal about her crush on Quinn for years now. Back in May 2022, a few days after the release of Stranger Things 4: Volume 1 dropped on Netflix, Doja tweeted “joseph quinn fine as shit.” Quinn himself liked the post, while the official Netflix Instagram account posted a screenshot of the tweet.

In a now-deleted tweet posted shortly after the release of Volume 2, the rapper publicly thirsted over Quinn again. After a fan wrote on Twitter “Doja look how fine Joseph Quinn is,” the rapper replied “It’s f*cking criminal”.

Then in July 2022, Noah Schnapp, aged 17 at the time, posted a TikTok revealing that Doja Cat had messaged him about his Stranger Things co-star. Screenshots showed Doja writing to Schnapp: “Noah can u tell Joseph to hmu. wait no. does he have a gf?”. Schnapp responded “LMAOO slide into his dms”, to which the artist responded “idk his ig or twitter […] he doesn’t have a dm to slide in”. Schnapp then sent over a link to Quinn’s Instagram account.

Doja Cat was understandably livid to have Schnapp share the private conversation, calling his behaviour “borderline snake shit” and “weasel shit” in an Instagram livestream. “I made an assumption that he was gonna be chill about it, and he went and shared information that I didn’t feel comfortable with him sharing,” she said. “To be fair, this is, like, a kid. I don’t know how old he is but he’s not even over, like, 21.” The pair have since made amends and apologised to each other.

In any case, it doesn’t seem like Quinn was put off by Doja’s thirst. If anything, it looks as though the musician’s persistence actually paid off. Perhaps this should serve as a sign to us all. It’s time to stop with the yearning and pining. Start posting professions of love on social media and asking your crush’s teenage colleagues to set you up.
