Australians are well-represented in the upcoming 2025 Formula 1 season. Out of the coveted 12 spots in the paddock, two drivers — McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Alpine’s Jack Doohan — are Aussies.
Although Oscar has been zooming around the F1 track since 2023, this year marks the first time Jack will join the ranks after being in the wings as an F1 reserve driver. But now that there are two Australian big fish in a particularly small pond, is there any particular rivalry between the true blue Aussies?
“I’ve got a good relationship with Jack,” Oscar tells PEDESTRIAN.TV.
“We’ve known each other for many years and I wish him all the best. I’m sure he is going to enjoy his first Australian Grand Prix as an F1 driver.”

With the 2025 F1 season kicking off in March, the Melbourne local is deep in training mode.
While I would be charging my crystals and manifesting a coveted spot on a Grand Prix podium, the 23-year-old says he doesn’t have any good luck charms and rituals he does consistently. Well, aside from hard word and dedication, I guess.
“I’m not really superstitious so there’s nothing really,” he laughs.
“I usually get in the car from the left-hand side but that is only because I find it more comfortable than getting in from the right.”

In the lead up to 2025 F1 season, the zippy superstar has joined forces with Grill’d to launch his very own burger — creatively named the Oscar Piastri Burger.
With a beef patty on a charcoal bun with papaya sesame seeds, chipotle mayo, crispy bacon, aged cheddar, shredded carrot, lettuce and onion, it doesn’t sound too wild but it DOES sound delicious.
When asked if he would consider mixing up his options — like adding pineapple on his burger a la boxer Harry Garside — he didn’t seem too convinced.
“Can’t say I’ve tried that yet but I will let you know when I do,” he quipped.

Truthfully though, Oscar has more important things than trialling the harmony created when you pair a sweet fruit like pineapple on a savoury treat. Instead, he’s putting his focus on his first race back in March.
“I’m massively excited to head to Albert Park in March, race in my hometown again and hopefully bring home a good result,” he says.
“It’s always a super special event and the support that I receive is phenomenal.”
You can pick up your very own Oscar Piastri Burger from your local Grill’d store or via delivery from February 18 to March 31 or until stocks last. Plus, if you want to find out the real tea between the F1 drivers, you can tune in to seasons one to six of Drive To Survive on Netflix.
