Doctors at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital in China found that more than half of the patients in the hospital had symptoms of COVID-19 for more than two years.
Observing 1,192 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 showed that 68% of them were concerned about the consequences of the disease six months after recovery, and 55% had complications even after two years.
The main problems were pain, fatigue, sleep problems and mental disorders. Those who need a ventilator with lung problems.
The scientists noted that “there is a clear need to provide ongoing support to the large proportion of people diagnosed with COVID-19 and to understand how vaccines, new treatments, and viral mutations affect long-term outcomes.”
Researchers state that vaccination helps reduce the risk of developing COVID-19 and severe illness. It remains to be seen how vaccination affects the likelihood of such long-term complications.
