Doctor reveals silent health issues Justin Bieber could be suffering from… and how it might connect to Diddy

Justin Bieber fans expressed concern about the singer’s health this week after he was pictured looking somber and fatigued, his eyes hollow and distant.

Flocks of ‘Beliebers’ came together to theorize on whether the challenges of being a new father or if rumors of a strained marriage were to blame for his physical deterioration.

Now, DailyMail.com has spoken to several medical experts about what could be behind his look and whether there is a more serious health problem at play. 

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr Gaurav Bharti told DailyMail.com that the most noticeable changes in Bieber’s look were his receding hairline, loss of volume in his face and development of wrinkles as well as dark circles. 

‘These changes can be attributed to several factors, including natural aging, stress, nutrition, weight loss, and skincare habits. 

‘Prolonged poor sleep and inadequate recovery can also accelerate signs of aging, making someone appear more tired or drawn,’ he said. 

Manhattan-based psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert told DailyMail.com that Justin has long been under ‘immense scrutiny’ which could be compounding with the pressure of being a dad. The experts stressed they had not examined or treated Bieber.

Bieber, now 30, shot to fame at the age of 15 and recently welcomed son Jack with Hailey.

Psychiatrist and author Dr Carole Lieberman believes his worsening look could also be due to the media frenzy over Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs – Justin’s former associate – who was arrested in September over multiple alleged rape and assault claims, which he denies.

Justin has also long battled Ramsay Hunt syndrome and first revealed his diagnosis to the public in 2022. 

The condition is a form of face paralysis caused by reactivation of the shingles (herpes zoster) or chickenpox virus in the facial nerves present near either ear. 

The virus can potentially be reactivated due to aging, other illnesses or severe stress. 

Stress is often known to be a common trigger. Many studies have shown that stress can weaken the immune system, and that people under significant stress are more likely to suffer from infections than those who are not. 

Therapist Shari Botwin further suggests that recent stresses over a newborn baby, rumored marriage troubles and Diddy’s arrest in Justin’s life may have worsened his chronic illness and subsequently, his appearance. 

She noted: ‘Bieber was diagnosed with a condition that affects the facial nerves, causing paralysis on one side of his face. 

‘Ramsay Hunt syndrome has affected his physical appearance; however, stress and earlier life traumas could be taking a toll on his health.

‘Bieber has alluded to surviving trauma as a child. Even though he has not spoken publicly about what happened, it is possible that the shame, pain and loss he has experienced has resulted in early aging and change in appearance.  

‘Often times, undigested trauma and stress can lead to a variety of health issues.’

Alpert said that a career in the limelight may finally be taking its toll. He drew comparisons with how US Presidents tend to age dramatically during their terms. 

He said: ‘Sudden changes in appearance, particularly signs of aging, can often be attributed to a combination of stress, lifestyle choices, and underlying health factors. 

‘Celebrities (similar to US Presidents) live under an immense amount of scrutiny, which can be emotionally exhausting and take a physical toll over time. Public figures are often subject to intense scrutiny and this kind of pressure can itself impact their well-being. 

‘Ultimately, significant changes in appearance are usually the result of multiple factors—stress, sleep quality, diet, and emotional health all play a role.’

Talking about whether his rumored marriage woes could have affected Justin’s health, Alpert noted: ‘If there are rumors of marital troubles, that could certainly contribute to stress, as relationship challenges are one of the biggest sources of emotional strain.’ 

Lieberman said: ‘The latest celebrity sighting of Justin Bieber looks like the “night of the walking dead”. 

‘He’s gone from looking like “Ken”, a stereotypically hot guy, to being almost unrecognizable. It is shocking that no one has gotten him onto a psychiatrist’s couch before now.’

Lieberman believes the Diddy drama could be a factor after Bieber was dragged into the controversy due to his links to the rapper-mogul. 

In 2009, a 15-year-old Bieber spent a now-infamous 48-hour period with Diddy seemingly unsupervised at the rapper’s home, where they went ‘full buck crazy’.

In a video taken during that time and shared to YouTube by Bieber, Diddy, then 40, turns to the camera and says: ‘He’s having 48 hours with Diddy, where we hanging out [sic] and what we’re doing we can’t really disclose.

‘But it’s definitely a 15-year-old’s dream. We’re gonna go full, buck full crazy.’

Fast-forward to 2014, Khloe Kardashian recalled seeing Bieber at a event where ‘half the people there were butt-naked’. In February of the same year, he appeared at the launch party for Combs’s drink brand, DeLeon, and was pictured topless

The following year the pair danced together at the 21st birthday party of Combs’s son – also named Justin – and then, two months later, they both appeared on stage during a Miami music festival.

Diddy has vehemently denied all accusations that have been levied against him since his September arrest and Justin has not spoken out about or given comment on the situation or allegations.

Combs has been accused of using his fame and potential stardom to entice his alleged victims to lavish parties or drug-fueled hangouts to reportedly assault them, multiple lawsuits claim. 

Justin has struggled on and off over the years with being in the public eye and coping with the intense fame that came with being discovered by Scooter Braun as a child.

He signed his first record deal with RBMG the year he turned 14 and was transformed into a global superstar when he smashed records with the release of his debut album, My World 2.0, two years later. 

Recently, the musician also raised eyebrows when he unfollowed a number of notable names including his mentor Usher, his former manager Braun and Ryan Good, who was the best man at his wedding, prompting speculation he was trying to shed people from his past as he focuses on new music.
