Disney loses copyright to Winnie the Pooh

The characters of fairy tales about Winnie the Pooh, written by the British Alexander Milne, no longer belong to the Disney media group.

Since January 1, 2021, the adventures of a teddy bear have become known to all. However, Disney still had the tiger – the cartoon character Winnie the Pooh appeared much later than the others.

In addition, the animation studio continues to own all of its adaptations of the Winnie the Pooh story and associated brands.

In 2024 Disney will lose the copyright to Mickey Mouse – the company’s symbol.

In addition to two stories and many poems about Winnie the Pooh, the novel by American writer Ernest Hemingway “The Sun Also Rises” is no longer a subject of intellectual property.
